Condor Flugdienst, usually shortened to Condor, is an airline based in Germany.
The airline started operations in 1956.
In 1959, Lufthansa took over the airline, thus creating its first post-war subsidiary.
In 1961 the airline name was changed to Condor Flugdienst.
A process of transforming Condor from a Lufthansa subsidiary to a part of Thomas Cook began in 2002.
Today (2011) the airline is part of Thomas Cook Group, including some sister airlines:
“Thomas Cook Airlines” in the UK, “Condor Flugdienst” in Germany, “Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium” and “Thomas Cook Airlines Scandinavia".
