American Airlines, Inc. (AA) is a major airline of the United States.
American Airlines was developed from a conglomeration of 82 small airlines. In 1930, American Airways was incorporated as a single company.
In 1934, American Airways Company was acquired and renamed to "American Air Lines".
They worked with Donald Douglas to develop the DC-3, which American Airlines started flying in 1936 (until 1949). With the DC-3, American began calling its aircraft "Flagships".
In 2001 the airline acquired TWA.
